I’m sure this is a repeat question….. what is her mix made up of?

My Brazil… 🤷🏻‍♀ I ordered 5 various single leaf cuttings from Etsy and received them in Oct ‘23. The Mican’s is doing great, marble Queen is doing ok, Cebu Blue is vining and the Snow Queen rotted. My Brazil, however, it stayed alive with one leaf for 6 months and did nothing. I finally threatened it and told her that if she didn’t straighten up and start doing something, she was going in the trash! I figured she had a spent node and wasn’t going to do anything anyway. At the end of April ‘24, I finally saw new growth and 2 months later I have 2 brand new leaves. She seems to be a slow grower for me. 🤷🏻‍♀ I have threatened a couple of other plants 😆 my orchid for example. My husband bought it for me about a year before he passed away. 3 months after he died, it died and gave me a keiki, which I’ve been trying to grow and nurture. I’ve failed so many times and caused root rot and the last time I gave it an ultimatum… do better or I’m done, I give up. I had watched so many videos on orchid care and it just wasn’t doing it for me. Now? She has beautiful roots and 3 new leaves. Let’s see if she gives me my first flower spike this fall.

Gorgeous plant. I just got an import that I got from a vendor on Palm Street. I am trying to root her in moss. I found that the aerial root was rotting. I cut it on. Which rooting medium is best? Thanks for sharing.

How do you get your leaves to stay? Mine is a baby but the bottom leaves keep dying off when a new leaf grows

12:05 I think the word you were looking for here is corking! ❤ The best way I’ve found to remove scale is to manually remove it by hand and treat with neem oil! I find neem oil helps to stop the scale from sticking to the leaf tissue! ❤

It’s strange because they say bright indirect light for Hoya… but when I had mine in a north facing window with evening/afternoon sun it BURST with new growth!! I might switch it back..

Melissa, with all of your experience, do you prefer PON or soil-less, or chunky all mix? I have tons of babies in stratum but cannot decide which substrate. I don't want bugs! That is why I am attracted to the PON. I love Planted Mama. Her plants are healthy and cute!

I have also added a mint I got as a TC. Monstera is my absolute favorite along with anthiriums and alocasia’s

I did this to my monstera deliciosa. Now I have a bunch of babies and I have mine planted in a pot. The wet sticks grew leaves. I was surprised that they all sprouted except two small ones. That is the only monstera I have right now. 😊 I think seeing you cut your plants gave me the courage to cut mine like that.

Omg Melissa….I wish I could send you a pic of the Aurea that I “found” in a Deliciosa that I purchased. I still have the mother plant and the Aurea has all yellow leaves with a bit of green. I’ve tried everything and nothing changes. The leaves curl but have NEVER browned, it’s really strange and sometimes I think I’ve stumbled upon something really special that I’m looking for some expertise to help with. Wish I could attach a pic
